Design Thesis - Final Year Project

My approach to these designs concentrate on the method of creating form through a series of planes generated to create an impression of a solid flowing surface while remaining light weight yet strong and exposing the unique properties of each design’s medium, manipulating the material in a linear planar way. The method of construction, the materials that are used and the forms created are the important factors in my designs. This design project is an exploration of form which deals with the manipulation of a single planar surface template into a volumetric three dimensional form.

Stan Hope Street Secondary School - Interior Architect and Furniture Designer

This project was an Interior Design Project focusing on the renovation and redesign of a number of areas in the school. The Library, a Sensory Room and Pray Room were the focus of our redesign. I am a member of the Interior Architect and Design group involved in all designs and planning for the spaces in need of renovation. I designed a major area of the library space and have designed a one off bespoke desk and computer dock system piece of furniture ideal for the use of the space, a modular system of furniture which is ideal when in use and can be put away for saving floor space for when the room is being used for lectures and large classes. My work involved preparing existing, conceptual and working drawings, consulting project issues with the builder and client during office meetings and site visits and designing a major part of the school redesign project.

My Showhouse - Assistant Interior Designer

RTÉ design programme where professional designers attempt to give real people’s homes the same wow factor as a showhome. Working along side Interior Architect Saniya Chughtai this design project involved redesigning the home of a current homeowner to suit a brief that was set out for the redesign of her old home. My work involved assisting the Interior Architect in consultation with the client, design decisions, presentations of design ideas and eventually the setting up of the final finished redesign for filming during the design process.
